i took a break from work recently, and to fill the time i’ve been: hangin out, shopping, watching police story 1 2 and 3 all over again (i do this once or twice a year), watching tmnt 2 numerous times, and playing wow. what i’ve been listening to lately, in no order:

i remember when i first heard this track. it was blowin up on the radio some time around 8th grade. i definitely thought she was white. it was sorta like booty bass but on a real mellowed out r&b tip. my cousin’s brother had the sosodef bass allstars cd and i was begging to borrow it. the cd casing was next level, it was tinted green like lego lasers pieces. it was so off the hook. also, it had corina - summertime summertime on it, which is THE DAMN JAM. although i didn’t know that corina ripped the song from nocera. the original is way sicker. and the original love you down is also sick. regarding my blend, my friend says it sounds like a beach at dusk. i think she’s right. when the daft punk cd came out i was like ‘wtf, this song is just a loop with a fadein and fadeout.’ well, it’s perfect for an acapella!

so, the come up that night was really fun. was the first time meeting these dudes to dj with but they’re all great dudes(and dudette). we had a practice sesh that afternoon and we were all doing some amazingness, really good tunes that we were all throwin around. can’t wait to get down again. also can’t wait to buy my own gear, as it now appears that i finally -have- to buy turntables/mixer/et al. (yeah, i never had it before - fake it till you make it!)

as i was drag and droppin stuff from my music harddrive, i started to hear some dreaded clicking.. it wasn’t loud clicking, but i still got HELLA scared. hd failure has never actually happened to me but i dread the notion of nine years, 250 gigs, hours upon hours of collecting, to get thrown out. so i bought a terabyte(!) external and jumped ship immediately. i can’t imagine filling this hd up - i try to listen to everything i have, and i already have a hard time with 250 - another 700+ gb won’t help the situation. unless i start collecting FLAC. (nerds)

man, i hate coming late from work. i take the bus so that means when i step out the office it’s gonna be 45 and up to get home, and i definitely stepped out the office at 9pm. ugh. plus i narrowly missed the 9p subway, so i had to wait another 15. yes, im whining. whateva though, steady grindin.

this saturday i will be djing (!!) my first gig (flier action) in pasadena. its at a place called the terrace and i’ma be there doin the damn thang. 21+, no cover. so holler at a player for sure, cousin.

+ i made an /old directory with blends i did a long time ago. back when cool edit 96 was the hot shit. i found them on an old hard drive and it was like unearthing a time capsule.

r. kelly is the shit, please believe. bump n grind, your body’s callin, gotham city(!?!?!), down low, i believe i can fly (!?!?!?!!?), contagious (!!), trapped in the closet series (lolol), ignition remix, in the kitchen (!!!!!), every remix he just randomly ends up on, etcetera, and so on and so forth, indeed. he makes amazing music. i slowed down step in the name of love and it made it very bbq-in-the-park-ready, but the weather lately hasn’t been that! it’s been cold as shit. weak shit. this is probably one of my more favorite r kelly tracks. it sounds even better slowed down further. i was trying to push for chopped and screwed r&b a few years ago, i think itll still work.
